Custom Airfoils

This section is for the extreme aerodynamic nerds. Given the power of computers and software today, there are many softwares that can predict airfoil behaviors for profiles not tested in wind tunnels. While these numerical methods aren't as accurate as wind-tunnel data through and past stall AoAs, they are able to generate very good data for nominal operating AoA ranges.

Using 3rd party tools, its possible to generate coefficient curves with these software tools and create your own custom airfoil files for X-Plane.

NOTE

The methods presented here are not officially supported by Laminar and were developed by 3rd parties, so Laminar cannot guarantee the currency of the softwares; however, the method is quite powerful for those wanting to experiment with designing custom airfoils, or perhaps wanting to refine the model of an existing profile.
